Hailing from South Africa, Julia is currently completing an Erasmus Master in Urban studies through the Vrije University of Brussels, the University of Vienna and Malmö University. Her research explores the role of city governments in sustainable urban food system transitions. She has a background in anthropology and work experience in local government and non-profits, predominantly with a focus on urban sustainability. She aspires to live in a world where both people and ecological systems are valued for their inherent worth, rather than their productivity. As a result, she is passionate about working towards the feminist principles of care and wellbeing, and is part of a feminist collective, urban femina, which convenes projects and events around this endeavour.
